And the Results are in…

It’s my pleasure to announce that Amy’s Angels achieved it’s goal of reaching FIRST PLACE!!! The last event can take responsibility for that! This event bumped the team’s total amount raised to $27,235.50. The actual relay was this past Friday and the ladies walked all night to show their support.
This year the relay raised over $195,000!! All of this money is going towards the American Cancer Society.
Special thanks to everybody on Amy’s Angels for working so hard towards this amazing accomplishment! I’m sure that Amy is extremely proud :)

Fight to the Finish

This past weekend the Angel’s worked nonstop at the yard sale event despite the not so great weather. Karen’s husband was very helpful and lent them the shop’s garage to house all of the items. Even before some of the items were out they had already been bought. The total amount raised was $4590!! A local woman also offered to take some of the leftover things that hadn’t been sold and to try and sell them at her yard sale this weekend. Any proceeds that she makes from them is going to be donated to the American Cancer Society for our team! The rest of the items that were not sold are going to the Retreat and several local churches.
Now the last big event before the relay is tomorrow night! As of today Amy’s Angels is in second place…hopefully after tomorrow night we will sweep first! Tickets are already all sold out and many people are likely to make donations. Also at Citta (the restaurant where the event is being held) they are going to have a chinese auction. Some of the auction items include: dinners at a couple of nice local restaurants, a couple night’s stay at a few nice hotels, jewelry, and photos. More to come after the event! Good luck Angels!!!

It’s official, April 20th is the date for the cocktail party at Citta. Ben, the owner, has generously agreed to cover the expenses! The event will be a cocktail party from 6-9. There will be a 50/50 raffle along with a Chinese auction. There will also be an open bar and many snacks available. More details to come!

The proposed bingo night is unfortunately not going to be able to happen. There is a lot of paperwork involved and they need a license. With the relay so close there really won’t be extra time to focus on this event…but it is definitely going to be incorporated into the fundraising for next year!

Also this past thursday a few of the team members got together at my house. One of the team members makes jewelry often so they thought it would be a good idea to try and sell some at the relay. They made about 25 necklaces and bracelets to sell!

The girls are also brainstorming a team motto for Amy’s Angels…when all of the suggestions are up I’ll post them!!

Angel’s gettin ahead!

So the movie night went extremely well! They estimated about 150 people that showed up! Here are the results of the fundraising:

Ads sold (21): $1,000

Tickets for TV: $120

Entrance & Snacks: $775

The subtotal raised was $1895. After all of the other fees such as the insurance, the movie showing license, and cost of snacks and drinks the total profit came out to $1530!! This bumped Amy’s Angels up to third place!

With the leftover baked goods and drinks a team member offered to sell some at her son’s hockey game so a little bit more money should be expected to come in from that.

Upcoming events:

-wine tasting and cocktail party at Citta: possible date April 20

A bingo night is also trying to be organized to raise some more money for the American Cancer Society, more on those details soon!

I am One Thousand Winds That Blow

Hey guys!

Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve posted! I just got back from Costa Rica trip for my tropical ecology trip! But I did happen to come across some pictures from last years relay that I thought I would share with everyone.

Also the proposed wine tasting at a local restaurant has thankfully been approved! More information on that when the details are finalized!

The movie night at our local elementary school is also approaching! My mom had some flyers made that the PTA sent home with all of the kids in order to spread the word some more. Also a candy shop in town is offering to provide some candy as a donation to give out to everybody during the show. Ads are also being sold $50 a piece to be displayed before the showing, so far the Angel’s have sold 6! I’ll be sure to update everyone on the evening! Here’s the flyer:

Some pictures from last year’s relay! Enjoy!

Race to Raise

Katy’s Courage fundraiser at the talkhouse was an extreme success! They ended up raising just a little over $2,000.

Since there’s not too much going in the “planning department,” I thought that this week I could give you guys an idea of where all the teams on the South Fork of Long Island currently stand:

number of teams: 51

number of members: 343

amount raised by all teams: $23,070

Amy’s Angels standing: 4th place

Momma’s standing: 3rd place :) (So proud of her!)

On another note I found out that Mary Washington is having a relay for life! It is scheduled to take place on April 17th at 6:00pm. Currently there are 87 people planning on attending but I’m sure that this number will be much larger when the relay approaches. I’m definitely planning on participating in this relay, can’t wait!

Hey guys here’s my new meaningful image! Let me know what you think!

Katy’s Courage

This Saturday another local team called “Katy’s Courage” will be hosting a couple fundraising events. The team actually just started up this year in honor of one my high school teacher’s daughter who was diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer, she is only 12 years old. Even though this isn’t my mom’s team we know a lot of people that are on it. And really at this point everybody in our town is really one team, all of the proceeds are going to the same place.

Anyways…the fundrasing will start at Indian Wells Tavern where the owners agreed to give out free snacks and special priced drinks. Then just a few stores down at the Stephen Talkhouse the band “Second Shift” will be performing. Now I’ve known this band for a few years because they are family friends and they are amazing! They do a lot of classic rock covers :) All of the money that they are getting for this show is going directly to Relay For Life. Also before, during and after the show some of the kids are going to be selling valentines day goodies. Pretty bummed I can’t be there because they really are a great band!

As for Amy’s Angels events most of them are still being worked out..I’ll keep ya posted!!
